The Institute is located at Coimbatore, 8 km from
Coimbatore Railway Junction and about 13km from Coimbatore airport.
Geographically Coimbatore is situated at 77'E longitude and 11'N
latitude and at an elevation of 427 m above mean sea level. The
Institute is located on the leeward side of the Western Ghats and
receives 80% of its rainfall during October-November.
The Institute has a sanctioned strength of 90 Scientists, 81
Technical, 42 Administrative personnel and 113 Supporting staff. The
research policy of the Institute is formulatedin consultation with
the Research Advisory Committee, constituted by the Indian Council of
Agricultural Research. The research output is reviewed periodically by
a Quinquennial Review Team.
